The main objective of the Mentor and Integration Committee (MIC) is to arrange a mentor for all the international students who send in a request by using the ESN website. The mentor, who normally studies at the same faculty as the exchange student, can help the international student with any possible problems that might arise in the time the international student stays in Groningen. He or she also helps the international student to integrate into student life as smoothly as possible. Mentors offer a wide variety of services ranging from giving students a tour on their faculty to where the city’s nightlife hot spots are.
Furthermore, this committee organizes so called "integration-activities" which are open for international and Dutch students. In this way the committee tries to stimulate the integration between these two groups of students. Examples are canoeing on the canals of Groningen, a pancake dinner, celebrating Sinterklaas, and ice-skating.
MIC of the year 2011/2012 consists of (from left to right) Charlotte, Hilde, Lieke, Leonie, Gepke en Marije.
