ESN Mentor

Thu, 11/11/2010 - 18:11 — board@esn-groni...

Would you like to help International students settle in their new home and help them get accustomed to their new life in the beautiful city of Groningen? Did you go abroad yourselve and want to experience life abroad in Groningen?

When you studied or lived abroad you may have experienced how nice it is when you have someone that helps you out the first moments you start your new life abroad.

We as ESN offer such help through our Mentor Program. The job of a mentor is to help International Students get settled in the city of Groningen.

What does a mentor do?

The Mentor and Integration Committee make a match between you and one or more international students. Before the international student(s) arrive in Groningen you will have contact through e-mail and or skype to answer the first questions and help them prepare their arrival in the Netherlands. At arrival you can pick the student(s) up at Central Station if they would like that, and help them out with the first practical matters. For example showing them the city, go to city hall and the International Office together and opening a bankaccount. Some students are more independent then others so this differs per student.

Besides all the practical matters a lot of International students are interested in the nightlife of Groningen, so go out together, visit social activities of ESN, but most of all have fun together so the international student(s) will have fun and make them consider Groningen as their home!

How do I apply?

If you would like to become a  mentor to International Students, please fill in the form below. Please fill out your hobbies, interests and expectations as specifically as possible, so we can find you one or more international students that seem to match your profile!

If you want to know more about the program or have some questions, please send an e-mail to mic@esn-groningen.nl
