Hey guys!! Yesterday, the second part of the International Houses Contest took place. The wonderful people at the Albertine Agnesplein cooked us a meal fit for kings (or queens, in our case ;)).
As we arrived (soaked to the bone thanks to a typical Dutch rainshower), the wonderful smells wafting from the kitchen made our stomachs rumble in anticipation of what was to come! We were greeted by our cooks and guides for the evening in the homey Purple Kitchen. For a moment, a minor amount of panick arose as the oven began smoking furiously, nearly setting of the smoke alarm! With a few dishcloths the crisis was soon averted, and it was time for dinner!
The drinks were poured (Mainly juice, as I think we were all still recovering from the madness that is called “Queen's day”) and food was served. Rice Noodle Salad, Chicken, potatoes, 'Hutspot' – you name it, it was there! And it was all very, very good! With every new dish that was served, a silence fell over the purple kitchen as we ate and enjoyed. But asides from those moment, silence was most definitely not the evening's main theme! Conversations on a wide range of topics came by, and remembering from the top of my head we had an interesting debate about Mexican Food, a Dutch Christmas Song, fraternities, and so forth!
Once the main meals were cleared from the table dessert was served. A huge plate of scrumptulicious looking pancakes was put on the table, with various condiments. It was concluded that 'Ananas' was a much better name for pineapples, and that bananas and nutella made the best topping for pancakes ever! Along with a plate fill with fudgy chocolate cakes, dessert was certainly as sweet as it was meant to be.
After dessert, we all took some time to sit back and relax to let the food go down. But of course, this couldn't last too long as there were plenty of dishes to be done ;). And then it was time to leave and go back into the dreary weather – but this time with fuller stomachs.
I'd hereby like to thank the people of the Albertine Agnesplein for their hospitality! We had a wonderful evening thanks to all of you!
